GPS makers are busy readying their latest units for the upcoming holiday buying season, leading to new-product introductions (see the latest from Garmin and Sony). This also means that companies need to make way for the new devices, leading to discounts on current models.
Our product intelligence team has found dramatic price decreases in units recently. While we plan to roll these prices into our next GPS ratings update, we wanted to get this information to shoppers soon as possible. There are a number of appealing, well-rated devices on this list worth consideration.
It is important to read about what the next-generation products will offer before deciding on a model, and we will continue to cover them here in the Cars blog. In some cases, you may find the current navigators have all the bells and whistles you need, especially when available at a discounted price.
The market is moving quickly, and I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the value seen in reality view, historic traffic, and free traffic for those who drive near busy metropolitan areas. These features will be increasingly common this fall.
