General Motors announced last week that it is not able to proceed with the sale of Saab Automobile AB to Spyker Cars, and it will begin closing the division. (Read: "No sale: GM to close Saab.") Despite that declaration, discussions have continued today. Spyker originally made a final offer with a Monday 5 p.m. ET deadline, but mid-afternoon today, it lifted its cutoff time.
Other parties have expressed interest and GM has said it will evaluate each purchase inquery.
GM had set year's end as a deadline for selling Saab, and it is looking unlikely that a suitable, deep-pocketed buyer will be found. But the possibility still exists.
Stay tuned, as the story continues to unfold.
