With the massive Toyota recalls bringing the subject of unintended acceleration to national attention, there have been many examples brought to light, including in the Consumer Reports Cars blog. We invite those who have experienced this phenomenon to share their tale in the comments of this specific blog post.
Please be brief and specific in recounting your experience, citing the year, make, and model of the vehicle, as well as the engine and transmission. Since Toyota has focused on floor mats, pedal design, and accelerator action, we would be particularly interested in your observations related to these components.
Of course, unintended acceleration can occur with any vehicle, not just Toyotas. We welcome all relevant stories, regardless of brand.
While this sampling is not scientific, it will help further humanize the growing safety concern and provide more anecdotal insights into the variety of scenarios that can occur.
Any shared stories may be factor into future reports, including quoting submitted text.
