No deal: GM will not sell Hummer, brand to be shutdown
Feb 24, 2010 3:26 PM
The on-again, off-again sale of Hummer to Chinese company Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machines Co., Ltd. is apparently off. General Motors (GM) reported this afternoon that the Chinese company is unable to acquire Hummer. This leaves GM without a buyer for the niche off-road brand, meaning they will begin the process of ending operations. After seeking a buyer for nearly a year, GM will shutter Hummer, much like the Saturn and Pontiac brands were in late 2009.
GM says that they will honor warranties and provide service and parts support for all Hummer owners.
