Video: Consumer Reports' Jon Linkov on Toyota recall
Feb 9, 2010 7:37 PM
The Toyota safety saga continues to unfold. Consumer Reports has been actively engaged with the story, reporting via the blog, communicating with all key organizations, and sharing our insights and advice with the media. Today, Managing Editor Jon Linkov spoke to about two dozen television outlets via satellite feed from our Yonkers, New York, headquarters about the Toyota recall, explaining how it impacts consumers and taking Toyota to task for its communication. While the camera was on, we grabbed a few clips to share with our online audience.

Among the headlines today, Toyota has recalled the Prius and Lexus HS 250h for software updates to the braking system. Further, the HS 250h has been subjected to a "stop sale" and Consumer Reports is suspending that model's recommendation.

Toyota said it will change its start-stop buttons to allow a driver to turn off the engine with quick button presses, rather than holding the button for a long three seconds.

The 2010 Camry four-cylinder has been recalled to inspect its power-steering hose.

And reportedly, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is looking at a potential investigation into complaints regarding power steering in 2009 and 2010 Corollas.
