A few recalls have been announced recently affecting Ford, Infiniti, Nissan, and Suzuki SUVs and trucks. If your vehicle is listed here, the manufacturer should contact you. Customer-service phone numbers are listed below if you have questions. See our latest survey findings on car recalls.
2010 Ford Ranger
Ford is recalling over 2,900 Ford Ranger manual-transmission trucks due to a problem with the parking brake cable that could become disconnected from the right rear actuator in cold weather. The problem could occur if the parking brake shoes become frozen and the brake is released causing the cable to become disconnected.
If the vehicle is parked in neutral and the parking brake is not fully applied, a crash may occur.
Dealers will install a new right rear parking brake actuator free of charge to prevent the cable from becoming disconnected.
Owners may contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332.
2010 Infiniti QX56; 2010 Nissan Armada, Frontier, Pathfinder, Titan, and XTerraNissan is recalling over 41,000 Infiniti QX56, and Nissan Armada, Frontier, Pathfinder, Titan, and XTerra vehicles manufactured between November 19, 2009 and March 3, 2010 due to a risk with the suspension system integrity.
The problem is with the strength of some welds in the cylindrical collars that attach the lower control link assembly to the chassis. If the collar weld separates, there could be deterioration in vehicle handling, which could result in a crash.
Nissan will notify owners and repair the vehicles free of charge.
Owners can call Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.
2010 Suzuki Equator
Suzuki is recalling almost 600 Equator pickup trucks, the mechanical twin to the Nissan Frontier, due to the same suspension problem listed above.
Dealers will inspect and replace, if necessary one or both lower control links.
Owners may contact Suzuki at 1-800-934-0934.
