Video: TomTom now offers Yoda voice for GPS, directions he will give
Jul 9, 2010 12:21 PM
Known for the ability to customize its devices, TomTom continues to expand its available voices for its GPS navigators with the addition of Yoda, the legendary Jedi master. The syntax-challenged Yoda joins C-3PO and Darth Vader as classic character offerings from the Star Wars universe, to be joined by Han Solo next month. The Star Wars voices are available for $12.95.

Yoda speaks with his trademark word transposition and "hrmms," and his voice is complimented by a John Williams score with some commands, giving the master a more cinematic presence. To complete the navigator upgrade, there are free Star Wars downloads with start-up screens, sound effects, and car icons.

To use the Star Wars voices, the device must be using TomTom software version 5.0 or higher. You can check the version on the device itself (location varies, check manual), or when using the TomTom Home software on your computer.
