Mitsubishi recalled 19,410 Endeavors with manual air conditioning because incorrect software may randomly change air flow directions and temperature coming from the vents. If the windshield defroster were affected then poor visibility could cause a crash. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says reports that dealers will inspect and repair the electrical system for free.
The recalled Ford vehicles were shipped with faulty electronic module settings, potentially disabling the lift-gate lock. Seventy-one vehicles manufactured from July to November 2010 were affected. Ford dealers will fix the locking function for free. According to NHTSA, the defective lock system meant the vehicles did not meet industry safety standards.
Affected SUV owners can call Ford at 866-436-7332 and Mitsubishi at 800-222-0037, or for more information contact NHTSA at 888-327-4236.
