Suzuki recalls 70,000 SX4 hatchbacks and sedans due to faulty mirrors

Suzuki Motor Corp. has recalled almost 70,000 vehicles, because the exterior side mirrors can become loose and fall off, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Model years affected include the 2007 SX4 hatchback and 2008-2010 SX4 hatchback and sedan.

The three screws that secure the two exterior mirrors to the vehicle can come loose due to vibrations from the road, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of a crash. American Suzuki dealers will replace the base screws for free.

The company says that replacement screws are on their way to dealers, but no schedule for notifying customers or implementing the fix has been announced. Customers can contact Suzuki at 1-887-697-8985, or NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
