Mini is looking to maximize the brand with a new concept called the Paceman, which almost sounds like the 1980’s video game “Pac-Man.” The Mini is scheduled for its global reveal at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show in January. Like the BMW X6 coupe, but for Mini, the Paceman adds a new category called a Sports Activity Coupe. It is similar in size to the upcoming Countryman small SUV, but with two doors instead of four and seating for four.
The Paceman will be powered by the John Cooper Works turbocharged. 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine producing 211 hp and mated to the same all-wheel-drive system in the Countryman.
The coupe will also have the center rail between the seats like that in the Countryman that allows the riders to connect various storage and media devices configured to their needs.
As with previous Mini concepts, this one will likely end up in production form down the road.
Our team will be on hand to preview and give our impressions of the Paceman from the Detroit Auto Show. No word yet if Mini is going to offer a Ms. Paceman in the future.
