When it comes to letting in the great outdoors, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder has nothing on the Mazda6 sedan.

So many yellow sac spiders have been making their way into the Mazda6 emissions systems, they've caused the company to issue a recall. As many as 52,000 2009-2010 Mazda 6s are considered spider friendly, potentially inspiring the creepy crawlies to spin webs inside the vent line of the charcoal evaporative canister, blocking airflow into the canister. When that happens, the webbing can prevent air from filling in the gasoline tank as fuel is burned and can create a vacuum in the tank. We imagine that can't be great for the car's performance, but worse, it can lead to the tank deforming and leaking, which could cause a fire.

Mazda says the spiders haven't caused any fires or any other casualties, so far. As a remedy, Mazda dealers will inspect and clean the canister line and install a spring to prevent spider infestation.
