Jacy Good was celebrating her college graduation, a day that should've been the happiest time of her life, but instead it became her worst nightmare. Jacy and her parents were driving home from her graduation from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, when their car was hit by a tractor-trailer truck trying to swerve away from a vehicle that ran a red light because he was distracted on his cell phone. Jacy's parents were killed instantly and she suffered months of recovery from multiple, life-threatening injuries.
See our embedded video of Jacy recounting the horrific event at our recent distracted driving event hosted by Consumer Reports and the Department of Transportation.
Jacy now is a board member at FocusDriven, an advocacy group for victims of motor vehicle crashes involving drivers using cell phones. She travels around the country speaking at a variety of events discussing her powerful story in the hope that she can affect some change among drivers, especially teens.
