Chevrolet is commemorating the brand's 100th anniversary with a special Centennial Edition package for the 2012 Corvette, with a dramatic satin black finish, unique badges, graphics depicting founder Louis Chevrolet, and special standard equipment. The distinctive package will be offered on all Corvette models, including Grand Sport, Z06, and ZR1. Production begins this summer, with the 100th model being auctioned for charity.
The Carbon Flash Metallic paint is accentuated by special black wheels and red-painted brake calipers. On the Z06, the Centennial Satin Black will be dressed with a thin red line, reminiscent of the 1978 Corvette pace car. Wheel sizes are dictated by the Corvette model.
All Centennial Vettes will have the impressive Magnetic Selective Ride Control active suspension.
Inside, these cars will be draped in black leather, accented with red stitching and suede. Obligatory logos abound.
Pricing has not been announced for these future collectibles, but enthusiasts will note that the order code is ZLC.
The highly rated Corvette Z06 is well regarded by our staff and beloved by enthusiasts, as evidenced by its recent victory in the Moto Madness Drivers' Choice Challenge. And now for the brand's birthday, the Centennial treatment makes this iconic American performance car even cooler. Happy birthday, indeed.
