The Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger have received a substantial reworking for 2011. A much more competitive V6, improved road manners and nicer interior and slightly better visibility are the highlights.
The big Chrysler comes across as a stately and substantial car now, a far cry from the discount oriented original. It rides well, is quiet and provided effortless motivation. A big appetite for fuel is still a deterrent.
On the road, the 300C feels luxurious with a solid feel. The 5.7-liter V8, aka as Hemi provides oodles of get up and go, but maybe not 363 hp worth. We're getting about 18 mpg so far according to the on-board computer.
Inside, it's a different world now. Plenty of soft touch materials surround the passengers. Nice stitching of the leather and the fat, wooden steering wheel complement Chrysler's analog clock. The rear seat is roomy, the trunk is large. Visibility is improved, but it's still not great. Our 300C has a suite of advanced safety features from blind spot monitoring to active cruise.
