The redesigned 2012 Nissan Versa sedan will start at $10,990 when it goes on sale nationwide in August. The Versa hatchback receives only a minor freshening for the new model year, and it goes on sale July 17th. Hatchback pricing has not been announced.
All sedans are powered by a new, lighter-weight four-cylinder with 109 horsepower. The wheelbase and width are the same as the outgoing model, but the new Versa is lower in height and slightly shorter in length. The trunk, however, has increased over 2 inches.
The base Versa sedan includes air conditioning, six-way adjustable driver's seats, AM/FM/CD stereo with auxiliary input, tilt steering wheel, rear defroster, and a five-speed manual transmission. Fuel economy is estimated to be 27 mpg city, 36 mpg highway.
With the continuously variable transmission, the Versa sedan is estimated to deliver 30 mpg city, 38 mpg highway. But the CVT carries a price premium, with models starting at $12,760.
The 1.6 SV starts at $14,560 and 1.6 SL begins at $15,560. Prices exclude destination charges.
More details on packages and option pricing is expected closer to the on-sale dates.
