Electric motorcycle maker Zero has announced their 2012 model lineup, touting improvements that include new lifetime batteries with a claimed potential range of more than 100 miles, returning an operating cost as low as $.01 per mile.
The company claims their new Z-Force power pack uses a new design and configuration that is 95-percent more energy dense and rated to last for some 3,000 charges, enough to theoretically power their Zero S street model for more than 300,000 miles.
All Zero on- and off-road models get the new power pack, and street models will add regenerative braking. Performance is also said to be improved across the board, although not all models are promised to break the 100-mile range barrier.
Other updates include new colors, graphics, and styling tweaks. Street models get revised suspension geometry for improved handling and braking, and the sporty Zero S and dual-purpose DS will be offered with either 6- or 9-kWh power packs.
The new models will be available in February.
Prices are as follows, but do not include shipping:
Zero S: (ZF6) $11,495, (ZF9) $13,995
Zero DS: (ZF6) $11,495, (ZF9) $13,995
Zero XU: $7,695
Zero X: $9,945
Zero MX: $9,495
