CES 2012: Magellan introduces specialized RoadMate RV9145 GPS navigator for RVs
Jan 6, 2012 5:15 PM

At the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Magellan will unveil a new, “entry-level” GPS navigator targeting RV drivers. The RoadMate RV9145 is loaded with features tailored to the unique needs for these large rigs, from multi-destination routing to RV park guides.

This latest large-vehicle device features the Good Sam Trailer Life RV Parks & Campground Directory, detailing the services offered at almost 12,000 facilities. Plus, the points-of-interest database counts 6 million locations.

Once a destination is selected, the driver can program an entire trip, noting planned stops along the way. By entering in basic parameters about the vehicle, such as height, length, and weight, the RoadMate RV9145 will route accordingly.

Although it doesn’t have traffic information, the RoadMate RV9145 can offer detour options to get around congestion. It also includes lane assist that can suggest the proper lane to be in for upcoming maneuvers.

The RoadMate RV9145 can be connected to a back-up camera, DVD player, or iPod through an A/V input.

Maps include the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

This isn’t the first large-format navigator from Magellan, but its targeted functions should find appeal among RVers.

Retail price is $330.
