Honda recalls 2012 Pilot and Acura MDX SUVs for possible fuel leaks

American Honda Motors has announced a recall of its 2012 Pilot and Acura MDX sport-utility vehicles. Approximately 8,709 of the Honda and Acura SUVs have "vent shut float (VSF) valve" cases that do not meet Honda's specifications. The improper VSF valve could cause a fuel leak and an increased risk of fire.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says Honda will inspect and, if necessary, replace the fuel tank assembly on the recalled Pilot and MDX SUVs free of charge.

Honda expects to notify its customers affected by this recall, identified by the company as recall campaign numbers S25 and S26, on or about March 13.

For more information, consumers can call Honda's toll-free customer service (800-999-1009) or visit the NHTSA website: www.SaferCar.gov.
