NHTSA investigates door fires in 2007 Toyota RAV4 and Camry vehicles
Feb 10, 2012 2:30 PM

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is beginning to investigate consumer complaints of fires in the doors of 2007 Toyota Camry and RAV4 vehicles.

According to NHTSA's Office of Defect Investigations, the federal safety agency has received six consumer complaints and other manufacturer reports of electrical fires occurring in the driver's side door of the Toyota vehicles.

Preliminary information from the reports gathered so far seem to suggest the door fires involve the power window master switches. However, engineers with the ODI and Toyota Motors will investigate the issue further and determine if an official recall for 2007 model year Toyota RAV4 SUVs and Camry sedans—including the Camry Solara—is warranted.

Consumers can file a vehicle safety complaint with the NHTSA's website, www.SaferCar.gov.
