Recall: 2011 Toyota RAV4—Non-compliant curtain shield air bags

Toyota is recalling 427 of its RAV4 vehicles from model year 2011 because one or both curtain shield air bags may not deploy due to the inflator potentially not performing properly. In the even of a crash, the air bags may not be able to properly protect an occupant, increasing the risk of injuries.

Honda recalls 2011-12 Ridgeline pickup trucks for spare tire issues

Å small number—just over 200—Honda Ridgeline pickup trucks are being recalled by America Honda Motor Co. According to the U.S. National Traffic Highway Safety Administration, those 2011 and 2012 model year pickups have incorrect information regarding their spare tires, which could lead to tire failure and cause a crash.

Recall: 2001-2002 Mazda Tribute SUVs for brake fluid leaks

Nearly 52,400 Mazda Tribute sport-utility vehicles are being recalled, says the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The 2001-2002 model year SUVs from Mazda may leak brake fluid from the master cylinder. If the fluid comes into contact with wiring for the anti-lock brake system (ABS), an engine fire could occur says the NHTSA.

Recall: Britax child safety seat—Harness straps will not properly restrain a child

Recall: Toyo Extensa tires for cracking and failing risks

More than 68,750 Toyo Extensa all-season tires are being recalled by its manufacture the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said today. Certain sizes of the tire have a manufacturing flaw which could cause failure and increase the risk of collision and injury, warns the federal regulators.

Recall: Kia Optima and Rondo vehicles' air bags might not deploy

National Research Council closes book on unintended acceleration, recommends actions to improve car safety

A new report by the National Research Council's Transportation Research Board finds that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) acted appropriately in discontinuing its investigation of unintended acceleration claims with Toyota vehicles. However, the Research Council finds it “troubling” that NHTSA could not readily address public safety concerns in this matter.

Recall: Mini Cooper cars for malfunctioning water pump controllers

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and BMW are recalling 89,911 Mini Cooper sedans equipped with a turbocharged engine. The electronic circuit board which controls the electrical water pump to cool the turbocharger may malfunction and smolder, possibly leading to an engine fire.
