If you're among the folks—one in four Americans, according to a Consumer Reports National Research Center survey—who plan to head out shopping for Black Friday, chances are electronics is on your list; it was for 85 percent of the people we surveyed.
Here are highlights of our new and updated content to help you shop for gear on Friday and beyond:
TVs. We have a host of help if you're buying the hottest of Black Friday items: a new flat-panel TV. We've added new models to our Ratings of LCDs and plasmas, available to subscribers. Also, there are blogs on what to expect in TV deals on Friday, including some of the best specials. We've also updated our video buying guide for TVs, which visually guides you through the major decisions you'll need to make and shows you some of our testing.
Digital cameras. We've updated our Ratings of digital cameras, both point and shoot models and SLRs, available to subscribers. In addition, our digital camera blog includes looks at a number of newer cameras; tips on taking that great holiday shot, and more. We also recently posted a video buying guide to digital cameras, which offers advice and insight into our tests. Finally, our colleagues at CR's Money blog have selected superzoom cameras for the very first Consumer Reports Value Index™, in which the price and performance of tested models is graphed to help you better identify great values.

Computers. We've updated our Ratings of computers, both laptops and desktops, available to subscribers. In addition, our computers blog offers an assessment by our computer specialists of a half-dozen netbooks, the pint-sized laptops that are expected to be hot sellers on Black Friday and beyond. We've also posted a new video buying guide on laptops, which offers advice and insight into our tests.
Cellphones. We've updated our cell phone Ratings, including smartphones, available to subscribers. In addition, our mobile phone blog has first impressions of some hot phones and a video on our first impressions of the Blackberry Storm.
GPS navigators. These devices are the purview of our colleagues over in CR's Cars blog, which includes a post on best GPS deals for Black Friday, as well as test results on hiking GPS units, a great gift idea for the serious hiker in your life. Their GPS page online will lead you to a host of other useful information, including a buying guide and, of course, Ratings of portable GPS units, available to subscribers.
Other highlight among recently posted information includes updated Ratings of noise-canceling headphones, available to subscribers. (As mentioned in a previous blog post, we're working on a new section about Headphone up on Consumer Reports Online soon.) We've also created our first video buying guide to video-game consoles.
