But getting the photos onto the frame can sometimes present a challenge, so it’s worth considering how particular frames allow you to make that transfer.
There are actually a surprising number of ways to get your pictures from camera to frame. The simplest is switching the memory card from your camera to the frame, especially if the frame has a good amount of internal memory. We tested a few frames that have a full gigabyte of storage, which should let you keep up to 3,000 photos (manufacturer estimate) on the frame at any given time.
One of the more clever download schemes we’ve seen is employed by eStarling’s Impact frame. It has its own unique e-mail address, so you can share photos and videos from your computer or cell phone. It supports all the major RSS photo-sharing sites like Flickr and Picasa, and you can also share photos from Facebook, Photobucket, and MySpace using the wireless connection.
Several other frames we rated also provide wireless connections to various photo-sharing sites. But maybe the best news in this batch of frames is price—there are several very good frames for $100 or less. —Donna Tapellini
