Are HP webcams really racist?
Dec 22, 2009 11:53 AM

A video titled "HP computers are racist" has been generating a lot of buzz on YouTube in the past few days, with more than 300,0000 views in the past 24 hours alone. In the video, two coworkers demonstrate how the face-tracking feature of an HP laptop's webcam has trouble functioning correctly for those with dark skin. I asked Dean Gallea, our lead computing testing engineer here at Consumer Reports, what he thought of the problem.

(Watch the original video after the jump.)
