Manufacturers will be debuting their back-to-school lines in the upcoming few weeks, so now is a good time to seek out some deals on computers. We just posted a new batch of laptop, desktop, and netbook Ratings (available to subscribers) that could help you do just that.
Sony’s VAIO VPCY115FXB/I is a good example. It’s an $800 13.3-inch laptop with long battery life and light weight. You’ll find some touchscreen models in both laptops (such as Dell’s Studio 17 Touch) and all-in-ones (HP’s TouchSmart series).
Three Dell desktops run the gamut from $650 for a system that will more than suit most people’s needs, to a slightly higher-priced $800 system with lots of video memory, to an $1,100 system that’s fully loaded. All had excellent performance.
For a netbook priced well below $300, there’s a Toshiba Mini with long battery life and very good portability.
Take a look at our computer Ratings for more details.
