If you've been teetering on the edge of buying a new 3D TV and have been waiting for just the right nudge, Panasonic hopes two free 3D movies may tip the balance in its favor. As part of a new promotional offer, anyone buying a Panasonic VT25-series 3D plasma TV during the next two months can get free 3D Blu-ray versions of Fox’s Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Universal’s Coraline.
Full details of the promotion, which runs through July 10, 2010, are available at Panasonic's website. To get the movies, you'll have to mail in a rebate coupon [PDF], along with proof of purchase, and the two Blu-ray 3D titles will be mailed to you.
All of Panasonic’s Viera VT25-series 3D plasmas are eligible for the offer, and each come with one pair of Panasonic 3D glasses. The TVs range in size and price from $2,600 for a 50-inch set, to $4,300 for a giant 65-inch model. The company also sells two 3D Blu-ray players, Panasonic’s 3D Blu-ray Disc players, the DMP-BDT300 ($400) and DMP-BDT350 ($430). TV product details and specifications are also available on the Panasonic website.
Whether or not the free-movie offer is enough to sway anyone into buying a new 3D TV remains to be seen. But the deal is definitely sweeter than what the earliest adopters got when they bought Panasonic's VT20-series plasma TVs: Those sets came with only a 3D sampler.
