The Mattel Hot Wheels Video Racer, shown at Toy Fair '11, has some technology built in that could really enhance its fun factor: a video camera. Kids will be able to capture up to 12 minutes of video from a car's-eye view at 30 fps (frames per second). The toy car even has an LCD screen on the chassis that lets them double-check (and delete, if they want) what they've just recorded.
Even better, the Video Racer comes with a case that attaches to helmets, bikes, and so on, so kids can record their own extreme sports experiences. The video camera connects to computers via USB for uploading what it records, and editing software is also included in the package.
The Hot Wheels Video Racer is recommended for kids age 5 and up. Look for it this fall, at a suggested price of $59.99.
