Amazon's Kindle Fire may be a hot item this holiday gift season. However, since its introduction three weeks ago, many have complained of a possible issue with the tablet computer's Wi-Fi connectivity.

As reported by CNET, hundreds of Kindle Fire owners have reported the inability to connect to wireless Internet networks. The tablet computer will recognize and connect to a Wi-Fi router or connection point but won't connect to the Internet, reported some Fire users on Amazon's online discussion forums.

Some users also report updating the tablet computer's operating software to Version 6.1 seems to alleviate connectivity issues. But others report still being unable to connect to the Internet on their updated Kindle Fire via Wi-Fi networks.

Amazon has not publicly acknowledged any problems with the Kindle Fire's Wi-Fi capabilities. But the company has released new operating software—version 6.2—which "provides improvements to the operation of your Kindle Fire."
