If you're not in front of your TV on February 5th—or one of the lucky ticket holders ensconced in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis—you'll still be able to watch this year's Super Bowl in real time. The NFL announced that for the first time, the Super Bowl will be streamed live at NBCSports.com, at NFL.com, and through Verizon’s NFL mobile app.
In fact, you'll get some extras along with the game: additional camera angles, in-game highlights, and live stats, as well as replays of the Super Bowl ads. So TV watchers may want to check out the live stream as well. In a press release on its website, the NFL said:
NBC has been streaming its "Sunday Night Football" telecasts for four seasons, and the network has found that it's not just being used by fans who can't watch on TV. Many of the page views come from people using the service as a complement to the traditional broadcast.
The Verizon app is free to the carrier's customers on both the Apple iOS and Android platforms.
