International Builders’ Show Product Preview: Kenmore Pro Built-in Refrigerator
February 14, 2008 12:00 PM

The new Kenmore side-by-side built-in refrigerator is the latest in the brand’s upscale Pro line of kitchen appliances and the first built-in from this Sears brand. Unlike lower-priced cabinet-depth models, which extend a tad past cabinets, the Kenmore Pro aligns with them for a sleek, flush look.

Highlights of this high-end cooler include 304 stainless steel instead of the cheaper 400-grade variety, oil-dampened doors designed to close without a thud, and, of course, the requisite on-the-door ice-and-water dispenser. This latest Pro brings a pro-style price—$6,500.

Sears labels the capacity of this 48-inch-wide refrigerator at nearly 30 cubic feet of storage. But remember that most refrigerators don’t have nearly the usable capacity that their makers claim, as we reported in “Refrigerator capacity claims don’t add up.”

Essential information:
The next time you’re shopping for a new refrigerator, read our buying advice and also ignore the claimed-capacity numbers and rely instead on the more-accurate, real-world measurements in our Ratings of bottom-freezers, built-ins, side-by-sides, and top-freezers (available to subscribers).

Has anybody out their bought the Kenmore PRO Professional size freezer and regfrig??????Just wonder how you like.

Hey! How can I find out more about this refrigerator. No one knows about this fridge and I'm interested. Holla back!

After much looking around at high end refrigerators, we bought a 48" Kenmore Pro. However, since it is a new model to Sears, they did not have the ability to deliver, take away the old refrigerator and install it, all at the same time. We finally negotiated a deal where we are providing a technician to unstall our old refrigerator on one day, Sears will then deliver the Kenmore Pro, possibly on another day, and our technician will come back and install it, hopefully on the same day that Sears delivers. It shouldn't be that hard!

I just bought a kenmore pro refrigerator and it was working when I turned it off in order to thoroughly clean it out. Once turning it back on, it now will not get below 75 or so, even though it is programed at 0 degrees for freezer and 47 degrees for refrigerator. I figure it has to be something with resetting but I can't seem to get it. Anyone have any advise?

Much appreciated,
Callie

I have the Kenmore Pro 55333 26CUFT refrigerator. It looks great, but I have had it for 6 months and have had service here twice already. Yesterday, it started beeping. The manual was not helpful to troubleshoot the beeping and it was not helpful to troubleshoot the fact that the refrigerator and freezer was not cold. It was 59 in the refrigerator and 57 in the freezer. I called Sears Service and a service tech came out to fix it. He couldn't find anything wrong with it, so he got on the phone to someone for assistance. Between the two of them, neither one knew how to fix it. Finally, the technician unplugged it and plugged it back in, and said it was fixed. It was not fixed. I called Sears back about 2 hours after the technician left, because the refrigerator and freezer was just as hot as before. They promised that the technician would come back today, and he would call me within 30 minutes. Two hours later, I called back again. Again, I was promised that the technician would return today. After waiting another two hours, I called again. The man in service promised me that the technician would come back as his last stop of the night. At 8:50 pm, I called for the fourth time. I was informed that the technician probably wouldn't be coming tonight and he told me to call back tomorrow (Saturday).

Sears has promised a $250 reimbursement for lost food. Still, that isn't really helping me out. It's April, it's hot, my refrigerator does not work. Sears did not make the technician return.

Having a great looking refrigerator is nice, but having a refrigerator that actually works is a whole lot better. I feel that Sears needs to have technicians who know how to repair their appliances - I think this is essential. So far, I'm not at all impressed with the Sears service department, with the extended warranty that I paid for, and I'm completely disappointed with my Kenmore Pro 55333 refrigerator. I would not recommend anyone to buy this particular Kenmore Pro 55333 refrigerator. I also don't think too highly of the Sears service department or of the technician who was unable to repair my refrigerator. In my opinion, refrigerators and freezers should be a priority appliance on the service route.

By the way, a bill was sticking in my door for $255 for this morning's service call. If I didn't have the maintenance agreement, I would probably have had to pay $255 for nothing.
