By the Numbers: Department of Energy doles out money to states for weatherization, energy efficiency
Mar 16, 2009 12:01 AM

$780 million

Amount of money the U.S. Department of Energy released last week to state governments as funding for weatherization and energy-efficiency efforts, part of the $8 billion that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will spend on energy efficiency. The Obama administration will spend $5 billion of the money for the Weatherization Assistance Program and $3 billion for the State Energy Program and says the money will "put 87,000 Americans to work and save families hundreds of dollars per year on their energy bills."
