White House Garden Michelle ObamaSquare footage of the organic vegetable-and-fruit garden First Lady Michelle Obama is planting at the White House, the first at the presidential home since Eleanor Roosevelt had a victory garden during World War II. (A plan of the garden is shown; see a bigger version here.)

Mrs. Obama joins an estimated 43 million Americans who will have an edible garden this year, as we reported in "More Americans to Dig Into Food Gardening in 2009." She intends to use the produce from her back 1/40th, situated near Malia and Sasha's swing set and visible to passersby on E Street, for the First Family's meals and White House functions.
