NuWave Pro Infrared Oven draws mixed reviews
April 8, 2009 12:01 AM

NuWave Pro Infrared Oven Our recent test of the NuWave Pro Infrared Oven (available to subscribers) confirms what dozens of readers of this blog have been telling us for weeks: This countertop appliance cooks some foods exceptionally well and in less time than a conventional oven.

"Frozen chicken breasts are done in 30 minutes, browned on the outside and very tender and juicy on the inside. Never had chicken breasts like this before," wrote one reader of the Home & Garden blog. That opinion concurs with our test results, which found that when it came to cooking meats, the NuWave generally browned exteriors better and left the interiors moister than a conventional oven would. Performance was actually on a par with a convection oven, according to our testers.

But some NuWave owners who posted a comment to our blog and our test scored it a tad lower at cooking steaks—"It will not give your steaks a char-grilled flavor; it has no flame and is not a BBQ grill," one person noted—and gave it mixed reviews on vegetables and baked goods. "Sometimes it cooks the outside of a frozen sweet potato pie very fast, and the middle does not get done well," another reader wrote, a take confirmed by our testing. | Twitter

The NuWave Conventional over and good for reducing cooking time in half, but since i have had the appliance the entire plastic casing has cracked on the inside and a line crack on the base of the plastic continuing nearly up to the control panel, leaving only three inches of undamaged plastic. I telephone the company and the lady asked me how often i washed the plastic. I told her once a week to see what she said. Then she had the nerve to tell me it has to be washed after each usage or the grease will cause the plastic to crack. I'm not that uninformed, that we all know that plastic will melt-down/crack from long periods of heat. That employee should get fired for her lying. Otherwise, the control buttons work fine. Presently, i have duck-taped the dome, and lined it with foil. Will never purchase one of these products again unless they improve them.

I bought the Nuwave Oven Pro from the TV ad in Dec. 2008. It has worked great, but I too have the problem of the plastic dome cracking, starting at the top at the three places where the heating unit locks into it. It has been washed after each use, but I still can't get the grease off the inside. I think the plastic is just not strong enough. I emailed Nuwave yesterday and it said I'd get a response by the end of the next business day, which will end in a few hours. I'll be happy if they make good on that promise, but am not optimistic about getting the dome replaced, even though it's only been used for 6 months.

I also see that the price has dropped considerably from when I bought it. Lesson learned: never order anything from a TV infomercial, no matter how great it looks.

Which product is better? The Nuwave Infrared Oven or the FlavorWave Turbo Oven? Both claim to use the same techonology. Consumer Reports should compare the two brands.

I do not have one, I am researching the "cons" before I purchase. I'm shocked the dome is PLASTIC! I assumed it was glass/ceramic. I would never heat in PLASTIC! You have got to be kidding! I find that to be a huge "cheap" manufacturing shortcut sheem. No wonder they can sell it so inexpensively, and with all these add-ons (nobody really wants)...

I called NuWave to ask about ordering this oven. There's an analog version that is controlled by two knobs and will cook up to one hour without resetting the knobs. And there is a Pro version that will cook up to two hours. I didn't ask about the price of the analog version but the Pro version is three payments of $39.95.

Ultimately, I didn't order this product. One reason was because of concerns posted at this forum about poor quality and dome cracking.

But the main reason I didn't order was because the NuWave TV ad, which can be seen on NuWave's home page, displays a graphic that reads "free express shipping." It turns out that shipping is actually $30 and the express shipping "upgrade" is free. This bait-and-switch tactic plus the obviously inflated $30 shipping charge (it's only 9 lbs) left me unwilling to buy from a company that was willing to use such tactics to secure a sale.

I have been contemplating for a while now about whether or not to make this purchase, but unless I get a resounding "hurrah" from a fair amount of reviews (so far it's pretty poor), and until I hear of an improved version of the NuWave, I will not buy it. Also don't understand why one would use rip off tactics and deception to sell a good product - leaves me wondering, is it really as good as they say it is? Hmmm?

I did not buy nuwaveoven product because,in the process of placing the order, I got involved with other unnecessary items (such as key club membership and the like) to be added to my credit card purchases. However, I am interested in this product in particular if the defrosting works equally well like a microwave oven. Did the consumer's report test the defrosting capability of this prodct? and find this can replace a microwave oven?

It was because of safety that I returned the merchandise. Although the company representative said that the product was safe, it could not be definitive that the plastic used would have no leak.

Advisory toward any who are afraid that this oven's not safe: Please know that this is infrared tech, and infrared waves are so low in energy that they cannot cause cancer. Don't worry about "leaks" through the plastic. All infrared waves can do is cook you and if you aren't feeling warm like you are cooking, then you are fine. However, heated plastic may pose chemical risks, but I do not know for sure.

i bought this nuwave in july 2009.it now has a crack in the dome cooks fine but i am not happy about this problem

I have purchased a new wave oven and have used it for a short time. The other day I was cooking a turkey and the heat cracked my dome. Now that I see everyone's comments I see this is a problem for everyone. I love the Nu Wave oven, but the plastic dome will be its downfall for me.

The New Wave Oven has been great but now, all of a sudden, it has started switching off after about 15 seconds of cooking no matter what time I put it. So basically it's now useless unless I want to stand beside it and cook in 15 second lots.

I posted about a month ago about my dome cracking on my Nuwave oven. I continued to use it until it started shutting off after 15 seconds or so. I am unable to use it completely now. Do not buy this product!!!!!!!!!

I bought the Nuwave oven after seeing the commercial and I was really impressed at first, but when I did buy it and got it home, it was so complicated to put together and it did not come with the size ring, which I found out was extra money to purchase, but what really got me was the dome cracking which was stated in the instructions if not used properly. Needless to say that was all it took for me and I took it back immediately, and from what I have read from others reviews, I'm glad I did, it seems to me that you would have to buy a whole new one in order to get a new dome. Customer service does not seem to be real quick in replacing it if were to crack!

I bought this oven about a year ago and I have to say I love it I only use it for meats and poultry and it does a great job the cooking chart that it comes with is very accurate steaks come out cooked to perfection juicy so does chicken and I am going to cook a turkey for the first time this week anyone who thought that this would give meats a char grilled flavor wasn't paying attention to the ad it is an electric oven not a charcoal grille the dome is plastic but it is a high temperature resistant plastic and there is no sign of melting after using it sometimes as much as twice a day everyday for the past year as far as shipping costs they are very high and they also add more if you want any of the free items they offer as wellI bought the extender ring and the twist blenders they offered and the whole thing ended up costing me about $200

I was contemplating a Nuwave oven until I read the reviews. Seems the dome cracks very easily.......
Thanks and thats all I need to know to make up my mind and NOT buy this piece of junk.

I called the number on TV, the employee read the script and every "free" item charged a shipping of $29.95. I asked him to skip ahead of the script and get to the bottom line and he got rude and surely. Now I'm glad after reading the reviews I declined to order this product.

This is bad news about the Nuwave Oven. I was about to buy 3 for Christmas gifts. Thanks everyone for your reviews. I think I will be looking for some other gifts. Don't need the head ache.

I have long wondered whether to get a NuWave oven but was leary of ordering something such as this online. Canadian Tire here in Victoria BC now has this oven and selling it for $99. I almost bought one last weekend but didn't and now after reading the reviews, I think I won't bother.

I just saw the infomercial and was about to order but luckily got online to check review - glad I did! Will NOT order this!

We bought a NuWave several years ago from a tv infomercial and LOVED it. It cooked fast, was easy to clean (especially when I line the bottom of the drip pan with tin foil). We used it nearly every day. I never got out a skillet for steaks, burgers, brats and even baked potatoes and yams in it. Only made one roast and it was fine, but mostly used the oven for smaller pieces of meat. Then it started taking longer and longer to cook and was making strange noises, so we found a new one at a local store and threw the old one away. Well, the new one didn't cook NEARLY as fast as the original one, so I started e-mailing the company. Finally they sent a new head and you know, it isn't any faster. I think the one we threw away was still faster. My husband saw a new infomercial and said they've changed the times it's supposed to cook things. Before, they said it'd cook a frozen steak in 6 minutes and it DID. Tonight this one took 20 minutes to cook a thawed one.
I don't know what they changed or why, but I'm pretty disappointed. I still like the oven, but find myself looking for a skillet when I'm in a hurry.
The dome never cracked on ours (yet). I don't remove it every time I use it, just wipe it out with the head still on it. Just in case the new one does break, I kept the old one as a spare when I threw the head away.

REMEMBER ONE THING PEOPLE ... IF AN ITEM IS NOT SELLING IN ANY OF THE SUPER STORE NEAR YOU ---> THEN DO NOT BELIEVE TOOOO MUCH IN THEIR'S COMMERCIALS BECAUSE THEY ONLY CAN SELL THOSE PRODUCTS ON TV SO THEY HAVE TO MAKE THEIR PRODUCTS WORK AS THE BEST AMAZING NEW INVENTION PRODUCT IN THE WORLD !!! BECAUSE IF THEY DO SOLD THEIR CRAPS IN THE SUPER STORE THEN EVERYONE WILL RETURN IT DUE TO THEIR FAKE COMMERCIALS ... AND IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR US TO RETURN IT AS IF WE BOUGHT AN ITEM ONLINE.
SO PLEAZE BEWARE !!!

Wow....very naive consumers! Every company does the shipping and handling thing. Every company tries to get the most money for their product. And, Joe....just because it's on tv doesn't mean it's an inferior product. I came on here to check out the reviews, as I might buy this myself. I used to take order calls for it. And, Paula, we have to let you know about all the offers, Babe. It's called "doing our job". Surely you've been employed before, right? Did your boss tell you how to do your job or did your customers? Hmmmm? You were the one being rude. The call is recorded and we have to hit the yes or no button. We can't answer for you and that is for your benefit. Big deal, just say yes or no so we can get your rude ass off our line and speak to someone with couth. Gawd....stupid...stupid...people. Glad I don't take those calls anymore.
BTW, Have a nice day! buwahahahahhaa

I have read horrible reviews for the Nuwave, here and on other sites. Please know that there are other brands that make this type of "oven" - most of them are designed with a glass bowl. There are a number of alternative brands listed on amazon, in the convection oven section. FYI...

After telling family members for the past year that I did not want the NuWave oven, they recently gave me one. After reading the comments/reviews, I'll never take it out of its box.
I also do not like the idea of using the plastic dome because of health issues related to 'hard' plastic.

I've had a nuwave pro (black stainless) version for over 2 years and am still using the original dome. It is a bit clouded by use but is not cracking or showing any kind of defect. I'm very pleased with the performance of the oven. It does everything advertised, although there are some caveats: the cook times are not as fast as they say, you have to flip most items (conveniently not mentioned or shown in their infomercials), and steaks are better done on the bbq grill. I dont' think the nuwave gets hot enough to do steaks properly. You really need to sear them to lock in the juices. Chicken, on the other hand, comes out great in the nuwave. The skin crisps up wonderfully and the meat is juicy. I love the nuwave. It's a great appliance, but I don't think it does everything. It does many things great, and a few things are better left to other appliances. Don't let the 350 degree F max scare you away. Most things cook just fine at this max temp. Also, cleanup is a breeze because hardly anything burns and sticks under normal circumstances.

BTW, you can buy refurbished domes on nuwaveoven.net for only $24.95 ($15 plus $9.95 shipping. These are probably from returned units.

I went with the nuwave instead of a flavorwave because the flavorwave using a light bulb for heat. These aparently are not very durable and are expensive to replace. The nuwave uses a metal rod for heat similar to an electric oven. It supposedly supplies infared heat as well as convection and conduction. I dunno, but it seems to work well.

terrific oven for the money still works great 4 years later , like any oven you need to use some comen sense and actual cooking skills, if something is going to cook to fast on the top or outside and too slow in the middle you do what?. you use 10 cents worh of tin foil just like your mother should have taught you to in any oven. and then the top of the turky you cooked would not have been over done. (by the way consumer reports they told you to do this in the instructions you clearly did not bother to fully read, or view .

it does everything they claim it does you just have to read the instructions and use some commen sense .

lastly one thing they dont claim it cooks is bread , but in fact it does and it does it better than my gas oven, especially ready made rolls etc , or stuff like corn bread mix .

i have no affilation with this company , i simply bought one and love it the only thing we cook in the gas oven anymore is frozen pizza.

the one complaint i do have is the dome is plastic and as such it is pretty dingy after 4 years , i wish they would sell a pyrex upgrade for it .

lastly looking at meat or pultry cannot ever tell you if it is done, and in the nuwave sometimes meats appear underdone (becasue all the juices remain trapped inside so you should always ust a meat thermometer ,and as your mothers should have taught you allow larger cuts to rest under tinfoil.

too many people expect everything to eliminate the need for skill or knowledge and just do it for them.

actually learn how to use this oven and for 150 bucks vs 2000.00 for something that can do what it does, is a great deal.

Like a lot of people I haven't yet purchased because of what I've read about the polycarbonate bowl/lid cracking.... but I have another question ... perhaps the scientists / testers at Consumer Reports can answer since they have had it in their lab. Since the leeching of BPA (Bisphenol A) has become a concern in containers made of polycarbonate plastic -- particularly when the food/liquid is heated, what are the implications of surrounding food with a polycarbonate bowl and super heating it? I would assume there's a good deal of steam build up etc so it would seem that BPA leeching might still be (even more of) an issue.

What do you think?

I have had this oven for 2 years and we love it we use it about 3 times a week....no problems and no cracking

Can we avoid useless comments like "I didn't buy this product" and "Wow... very naive consumers..." They really don't help anybody. If you have some insight on how this product has preformed for you, this would be most helpful. Otherwise keep your useless comments to yourself. Having said that, I did buy this product from Amazon.com for $100. I passed on the "free" extras as it was ridiculous to pay those shipping charges for each item. After about 45 days of regular use the dome started to crack. Interestingly enough, customer service told me I was washing it to much which caused the problem (I washed it after every use). Other than the cheap manufacturing, it actually worked fairly well on most meats. I would buy a similar product again after determining it's structural quality. I agree with Paula, by the way, call center employees can be very rude! Part of doing your job is to be kind and courteous, not just getting through your script. Obviously our point was proved by the poster "Laughing at Idiots" - what a jerk!

i was on the phone today with nuwave rep, after hearing her telling me the shipping charge is $30, i feel that I was getting rid off already. I decided not to buy the unit. I have company doing that...trying to get you on shipping charge, why dont they increase the price on the product and keep the shipping low.

Just bought it today. Still not sure what I think. Cooked a turkey today and it came out alittle dry. I didn't like the smell while it was cooking. Smelled like burnt plastic. Wonder if the hot plastic will be unhealthy. Seems like cooking the good old way in the oven might be better, safer, and tastier. I wouldn't leave it unattended like I would a crock pot. Now that I've read the reviews I will probably take it back.

Am hoping someone can shed some light into both the Flavorwave and Nuwave cos Im really confused about which one to get or not to get them at all. It seems to convenient and yet with all the negative feedback on durability issues, I really dont know what to do. So, which one is better?

Just received the NuWave pro oven eight days ago and have been cooking steak, chicken, vegetables, and pizza for one person and it already has a slight vertical crack in it. I really like it, but I am not sure if I should return it, since this happen so quickly.

I purchased the Nuwave Pro just over a week ago. I think it works very well and everything I have cooked has been very delicious. I have cooked steaks, roasts, chicken, vegies, and even dried banana chips. Everything has been very tasty and cook time is much faster then other ovens. The clean up was also fairly easy. I would rather have a glass dome instead of the plastic, but so far I still give the Nuwave oven a thumbs up, and recommend it to my friends n family.. ...

My NuWave Pro cracked, fortunately we have a warranty. First day with a whole elk hide we shot would not fit. little chicks roast cook nicely---but not crispy. Recommend a smoker then deep fry. Great for retards and people who cannot cook toast!

Wow, I read all these comments ? Very confused, my wife and I use the NuWave at least 4 times per week and we love it. Chicken is always great (moist and very good taste , EVOO & Rosemary). Asparagas is just excellent, as for Pizza, Chops, Steaks , Burgers , Shrimp, all awesome. Never a crack in the dome (2 years now) however it has clouded a bit. I would highly recommend this oven to anyone. ~~ Pete ~~

Hello To All The Blogs regarding The Nuwave Oven,

The Nuwave Oven is great product and I have had mines for over 2 yrs and NO the dome has not cracked. Also any questions I have ever had in regards to cooking in the oven the CS has been VERY HELPFUL!You guy are pathetic and crybabies acting as if mistakes dont happen and you all should know that nothing is FREE!All informercials do state FREE just pay seperate s&h!Then some of you must know each situation is DIFFERENT and the CS agents are ONLY DOING THIER JOBS!Im quite sure you all have heard of a job,you SHOULD have one!How can you FAULT the CS reps?!Honestly people are so rude and miserable with thier own lives its pathetic!Nuwave ROCKS!Maybe you all should TRY IT!Eventually anything you buy will ware and tear DUMMIES!

I am so glad I read most of the views of people who have bought a NU WAVE OVEN. It's a piece of crap as far as I'm concerned. Thanks to all who have bought it, I won't!

TURNS ITSELF OFF RANDOMLY BETWEEN 4 TO 15 MINUTES AND WILL NOT RESTART FOR A WHOLE HOUR. APPARENTLY A HEAT OVERLOAD PROTECTION COMES IN TO PLAY. WORTHLESS DEVICE.

Thank you all for your comments. I was going to order this product, but will now NOT order it. Who needs another appliance that doesn't work as advertised. A note: I purchased the Express Redi Set Go cooker and was disappointed in that product as well. I will never order an infomercial product again.

Ended up buying the NuWave oven a little over three months ago. And so far we have used it quite a bit. The one complaint we have about the product is the metal drip pan is nearly impossible to remove now in the couple of months we have used it. Other than that it has been great....and it is used more than any other cooking appliance in the household. I didn't read about anyone having issues with the metal drip pan...has anyone else seen this?

Well, after listening to the latest infomercial 05-29-2010 at 4am, & reading all the above comments/complaints, I've come to the conclusion that this thing is not what they claim.
One big complaint is that Y'all are saying the dome is PLASTIC!
And in this mornings infomercial, they're saying it's GLASS!
Being plastic, anybody in their right minds should know that over time and a lot of heat, it's gonna crack!
BUT, if it's PYREX, it'll last forever, unless you drop it on the floor.
Also, they claim it heats by INFRARED, when there's nothing in it to create the Electromagnetic Radiation. There's only an electric heating element that glows red when it's HOT. That's not infrared
I may be a bit Crazee, but not insane enough to shell out $150.00 for another appliance to run up the electric bill. I'm stick'n with my GAS stove/oven/broiler & with Kingsford charcoal in the BBQ grill. :o(

I've had my NuWave oven for about 2 1/2 years now and I still love it! I read great reviews on Amazon before I bought it. It does chicken and steak extremely well. Yeah, I miss the grilled taste, but I can't cook outside here, so I use spices and sometimes just salt and pepper and I'm content. You just have to watch out not to overcook things. After all of the use this has got, the plastic dome cracked for the first time today. I haven't been cleaning it every time, maybe that's why it lasted so long. I love this oven so much that I'm going to buy the reconditioned dome. And yes, I'd recommend this to my friends--I have been since I got it!

I bought the Flavor Wave oven 2 years ago. It worked well roasting vegetables, making french fries and cooking small chicken. Another difference between the Flavor Wave and Nu-Wave, with Flavor Wave, the food sits inside the large glass bowl and yhou have to hoist it out when cooked. With the Flavor Wave, you remove the dome and the food is sitting there on the flat tray and is easier to get at.

I like the Flavor Wave. However, the time settings for the time knob wore off really fast. So now I have to guess what time is being set. The giant glass bowl is heavy. Overall I am happy with it. I saw from another blog that the Flavor Wave reaches higher temperatures, up to 500 F versus 350 or so with Nu-Wave.

I've had the Nuwave for over 2 years now and use it nearly every day. Does great cheese on toast in 6 mins. Dome has cracked ++ and I have just ordered a replacement. A friend also has one (similar use) and that has not cracked. Maybe a manufacturing problem ??

I was thinking of getting a FlavourWave as a replacement but didn't because of the many reports of bulb failure. I could find no source for new bulbs apart for the JML version.

I am wondering if any of the Halogen glass bases could be used with the Nuwave head. That would be a great combination if it could be made to fit.

I bought a Flavor Wave Oven about 3 years ago with an extended warranty. Three months before the warranty was to expire, the plastic dome cracked. I called them to get a replacement as my warranty was still in force but was told 'Oh we don't make that model anymore but you can buy the new model for discount price of $65.00' I don't think so. I contacted the Better Business Bureau who advised me to get an attorney. This product sucks. I really miss it but until they perfect the dome they can keep it.

I bought my Nu-Wave 2 years ago and I use it all the time. It works great for me, although it doesn't seem to cook bread products too well. I haven't had any problems with the dome cracking...thank goodness. I use it at work to cook my lunch. I just got done cooking some bbq'd chicken on it and it did great. I would definitely buy it again and I recommend it to anybody interested.

My family has had the NuWave oven for 4 years now. We did have a problem with the cracking, but we bought the warrenty on it and it was easily replaced for us.

Best thing to cook is a whole chicken, Comes out moist and juicy always.

I bought a Nuwave way back from a tv shopping channel. I loved using it and then got the cracked dome. I had a guarantee of 1 year and got a replacement. They said at the time it was a fault with the original and this had been addressed and I would have no more problems. However looking at the dates above it seems still to be a problem. Anyway sadly I had to stop using my oven as out of the blue last year it stopped working and my year guarantee was no longer valid. I see someone else had same problem as me above, except mine switches off after a second. Initially it was about 5 seconds. I would really like to use it again and wondered if anybody knew of somebody who would repair in UK? It was not cheap and I most definitely did not get alot of use out of it as initially after the first dome broke, I stopped using for a few months until I got my new dome. Then after getting it shortly after that it just stopped working.

I will say this has most definitely put me off purchasing items that are not actually supplied by companies or shops in the UK.
If anybody does know of repairs in UK I would be most grateful.

I am considering getting a halogen table top cooker, there are many around at half the price of the nuwave I purchased to see how that compares.

Geez.....so much bickering about the NuWave oven. I've been looking at it for about a year myself. I don't know if I want it either. Why isn't it sold in the stores? Can't I look at it first before I buy? You can purchase it through Amazon too. So many model numbers to sort through. Which is best? I figured the stores would have the latest model; when or EVER it comes out in the stores.

I think Savoureaux Pro Line came out with the convention oven first and their bowl is glass plus their controls are higher up and away from the bowl. I considerd theirs but all the reviews on it are great so I wondered if it is all true. Anyone try Savoreaux?

Alright guys .. Bottom line, dont buy this product at the first place. It is horrible and customer service is very mean. I bought this product before and i used it for 6 months. (2 months later dome cracked in half but managed to put it together it worked. 1 month later, the timer stopped working and its useless) I was so much in love with it that i bought another one thought it would last me but i changed my mind. For some reason they send me 2 Nuwave oven isntead of one and they charged me 300+$$$$ .. pissed as hell, got the Return number, all they will do is return me 205 but will keep the rest of shipping and on top of that, i had to pay 30 bucks for both package to return it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, dont buy this product. ITS HORRIBLE

I am now age 29 and I recall watching an infomercial for the 1st time when I was 23. Back then, the infomercial caught my interest for my mother's sake, but NOT for myself since I was in college at the time and never cared to cook meals. Recently, I was excited to see that they still advertise this on TV and now that I am into cooking, I decided to purchase this oven at a major retailer. Yes, I read all the positve and negative reviews before buying this, but what convinced me the most to buy the oven was that it has been around for years. I mean HOW can it be a major product failure after all these years right? When I realized that this oven was available to buy from 4 major retailers(JCPenney, Kohl's, Home Depot and Bed Bath & Beyond) where I live, I thought it must be worth it. So far, it has been worth it that now I am thinking I should have bought this back in college. I think this is the perfect oven for a busy, stressed-out person who does not want to be eating fast-food or restaurant food all the time.

After viewing the advertising on TV I was so cray to by one . But now I am reading those comments I won't bother.

I did not buy this product you cant use plastic on an oven. I got a Beville smart oven. It does everything this pile of junk claims to do and more. In this world you get what you pay for.

I purchased my NUWAVE OVEN in 8/12/08 and I've been cooking in it ever since. They have not improved their plastic mold injection process for the dome. As a result I am going to need a third dome replacement. The second new dome they sent me developed white spots after cooking one time with it. I can no longer use it due to the cracks and the discoloration. It is now a safety issue and a product liability issue. Too bad, great oven otherwise.

Remember... "If its too good to be true... it probably is"

I just recently purchased the lousy piece of equipment described above. Well needless to say I was extremely dissapointed in it. The cooking times are no better than using my conventional oven, and the chicken breasts I cooked were dry and disgusting unlike the "juiciest best tasting" ones described in the infomercial. I must admit I was duped and believed what I saw on TV. I will never purchase anything I see advertised on TV again until I research it on the internet.
Please do not make the same mistake I made. Oh and P.S. they really rip you off on the shipping costs which are of course nonrefundable

I was going to order one of these this morning but after researching and reading these reviews, I have decided not to. I've been burned before by inflated shipping charges, and products that are not truly warrantied by their manufacturers and this one seems to fall into both categories! Thank you all for your help!

I bought this product a year ago and it was completely fine until I also noticed a crack in the plastic dome. I left it unfixed, thinking it was not a big deal.

The one problem with this is, because it uses infrared technology. The crack in the dome caused some issues in the pressure levels inside and outside the dome. I left it on like usual to cook a few pieces of chicken breast for a meal I was preparing to come back and find out it had exploded.

Good day,
I have purchased a new wave oven last year, which by the way I love cooking with.
For no reason that I am aware of, my glass bowl have craked last week.
I am affraid to use it.
Where can I purchase or replace the bowl, without having to having to pay for a new oven?
Thanks!
Suzanne.

Wow! I saw the commercial today and was blown away by it. After reading all of the negatives, I decided I didn't really didn't want it. Always read the reviews. It will save you from the aggrivation

Laughing at idiots probably works for the company, it may cook well but no restaurants use them, or real chefs it's a cheap piece of plastic

Dont buy it. Its nothing more that a informercial rip off scam. Save your money!!!!

Glad for the reviews. I will not buy this oven now that I have read these reviews.

have had nothing but problems with customer service took money out of my account early returned oven paid way to much for shipping they charge for each item and box it all in one box for half the price very dissatisified with the way they treat you and watch out if u make payment arrangements with them it is very costly

Has anyone tried a Deni 10400 Quick-n-Easy 10-4-Quart Convection Oven? The reviews look much more promising & the bowl is glass instead of the cheap plastic.

I have had the digital Nuwave Oven for about 8 or 9 years and it has always worked fine. Now one of the buttons has chipped the foil off, or whatever it is, so I have to be careful when I press that button. It's worked like a dream all this time.

My neighbor is a sucker for kitchen gadgets sold on TV and she got this and showed it to me the day it came. I noticed it out with the trash only a couple months after she got it. I asked her about it and, as I could see, the dome had several cracks and it is indeed a very flimsy plastic. She said it didn't cook like it did on TV- surprise surprise, and was often too small to cook enough for her family of 2 adults & 2 teens. (You have to buy extenders to cook larger items/portions shown in the ad & it does not cook well when you "overstuff" it she said.) Pizza? Oh, you need to optional kit to make that in it- hope you don't hurt your eyes reading the fine print! You don't need this to eat healthier- cook anything on a rack & the grease will drip off- duh! What they are showing as "fat drippings" is not entirely fat- more than just fat comes off meat when you cook it - too much and you get dry meat.

Now they stick you with 2 "free" blenders (I bet you already have one & don't need 2 more) that you have to pay hefty shipping on and your membership in the exclusive VIP club... where they can try to sell you ever more junk LOL. That's worth $200 they say... an exactly how many people have paid $200 to join?

Face it, if it's something fake experts, out of work actors and ex game show contestants or Billy Mays/Anthony Sullivan are selling on TV infomercials, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know the product is junk. When will people learn?

Despite the negative reviews, I went to our local Bed Bath & Beyond [a reputable store, also Kohls sells a different model] and bought the Nuwave Pro. So far I'm loving it. I did read enough to know that although the parts are said to be dishwasher safe, its better to hand wash the dome only when needed. That advice came from customers who did not have problems with cracking domes from their NWs over a year old. I also used their experienced advice to cook vegetables wrapped in foil, and it did a great job keeping the flavor of the seasonings and moisture in. My roasted chickens are fantastic; very moist and nicely browned on the outside. Steaks have been very good as well. Although I am use to non charbroiled steaks; my outside grill didn't use charcoal as it was. I like the fact, that the fats drip off, yet meats retain moisture. I've always been a fan for fried chicken and hot wings, now I can eat these guilt-free without worrying about my cholesterol. There are good and bad reviews about every counter top quick cooker, the flavorware vs nuwave and a few others. I think I would rather risk a dome cracking, than dropping a glass dome on my floor. I guess I don't like the thought of halogen; there's a reason those lights don't sell anymore at least in this part of the states. Just my two cents here ; )

I wish I knew more about BPA's in the plastic. I've had mine for 8 years. I don't cook much in it, no meats anymore.

Was just about to buy one @ Kohls (easy return policy), but after reading these reviews I don't think I will waste my time. Thanks to all who took the time to comment/review the product!
