With Amana's "Quick Tap Entertainment Refrigerator," the hub of your home can be party central

Amana Quick Tap Entertainment RefrigeratorLooking to add a little excitement to your kitchen? With the new Amana A8WXNGFW top-freezer, you can generate some real buzz.

The allure of this life-of-the-party appliance is a through-the-door beverage dispenser that's designed to hold up to three liters of mood-enhancing adult libations. Sure, it can store booze-free beverages, too, but Amana clearly is thinking fiesta with this appliance. After all, a Web page for what the manufacturer calls the "Quick Tap Entertainment Refrigerator" features a conga line and dancing margaritas and reads "Keeps the line moving!" (Turn down your speakers—the Web page blasts peppy music.) If you're more of a wine drinker, you'll be happy to know that the A8WXNGFW also has a rack for your favorite bottles.

The refrigerator is equipped with a child lockout, so you shouldn't wind up with pie-eyed preteens or even a loopy Labrador. If you're more concerned about your kids' health than about underage drinkers tapping into the fun, the dispenser is made with BPA-free plastic, claims Amana.

We haven't tested this17.6-cubic-foot, 28-inch-wide refrigerator, which is available in red and silver. It uses an estimated 470 kilowatt hours per year and is not Energy Star qualified, so it's unlikely that you'd be able to buy it and take advantage of the $300 million State Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program, or cash for clunkers for appliances.

But if you do end up getting the A8WXNGFW Quick Tap, remember to drink—and refrigerate—responsibly this holiday season and beyond.—Kimberly Janeway | | Twitter | Forums | Facebook
