Admittedly, a YouTube video on fixing your dryer will never make it to the top of the most viral list. But that video and hundreds more from the Repair Clinic may save you a service call or a costly repair. In well-paced productions, the Repair Clinic steps viewers through some of the most common appliance repairs starting with: Unplug it first.

We’ve often consulted Repair Clinic’s website, which offers tips and sells parts, for advice on repairs we’ve given in such pieces as “Can this dryer be saved?” Other appliances we’ve contemplated saving include washers, refrigerators and ranges.

On its YouTube channel, which today lists 116 videos, the Repair Clinic focuses on one appliance at a time. It shoots how-to videos for all the most common replacement parts, before moving on to the next appliance. Those posted so far are specific to Whirlpool-made washers and dryers, though the company says the collection will eventually expand to refrigerators, dishwashers, microwaves, and ranges made by all major manufacturers.

We’re especially fond of the “unplug” it reminder since we know that attempting a home appliance repair is one of the top causes of home electrocutions.
