We slipped five different pads that cost from $25 to $47 under the feet of a machine that we knew vibrated badly. None of them noticeably reduced the shaking. It wasn’t until we installed a spring-equipped $200 Steadywash Vibration Isolation Platform under the machine that the vibration transmitted to the floor was visibly dampened.
Still, as the video shows, even the machine on the Steadywash shakes from side to side, restricting its use close to a wall or a dryer. With a little wiggle room, you can avoid the problem—just check the washers in our latest tests that combine fine performance with low vibration.
I bought a kenmore elite quietpak 2 with the recommendation of CR, but it has been the worst washing machine that I have ever had. I purchased from Sears and their department for repairs was awful. The machine has been rebuilt completely, it would have been cheaper for them to replace the machine. They ruined my floor because they said it was fixed turned it on and it overflowed damaging my floor. This machine vibrates so bad that you can feel the vibration into the other side of the house. The dryer was also purchased at the same time and you have to run it 2 times to get the clothes dryed. I will never buy another Kenmore, esp. from Sears, because the repair department is so bad.
