Washington state expands appliance rebates to more products
August 12, 2010 1:56 PM
Blog_dishwasher Washington state is following California’s lead by extending its cash for appliances program to more products, according to KOMO news. The Evergreen state will now give rebates on Energy Star qualified dishwashers ($75), heat pump water heaters ($250), gas-powered storage tank ($200) and gas-powered tankless ($300) water heaters. Ductless heat pump heating systems will get a $750 rebate.

All the newly eligible products must be installed by a license contractor to qualify for the rebate, according to the state's website. The eligible dishwashers include 22 models in our Ratings from Bosch, Jenn-Air, Kenmore, KitchenAid, LG, Maytag and Whirlpool.

Washington state is also boosting the rebates on energy-efficient washing machines from $100 to $150, and will send $50 checks to those who already received the $100 rebate. State residents can take time to shop around as there is still $3.5 million remaining of the $5.6 million in federal funding made available by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The Idaho Statesman reports that’s not the case in neighboring Idaho, which launched its program on March 25. Only $150,000 in funding remains for rebates on air conditioners ($25), washing machines, refrigerators, and dishwashers ($75 each). The state's list also includes oil and gas-fueled furnaces ($110 and $125), electric heat pump, solar-, and gas-powered storage water heaters ($150), air source heat pumps $250, and oil-fired boilers ($300). Reservations for rebates can be made online.
