What about Bob? Consumer Reports' resident scene stealer
Aug 12, 2011 4:35 PM

In the new movie “The Help,” the plot turns on a toilet. Or rather a front yard full of toilets. And this isn’t the first time a toilet has taken a star turn. From the groundbreaking movie flush in “Psycho” to Jeff Bridges, The Dude, punishing the pink porcelain in “The Big Lebowski,” the comely commode has often commanded the screen. This week New York magazine celebrates the toilet’s contribution to 11 movie classics. But they missed a few.

Consumer Reports’ very own Bob Markovich, editor of all things home related, has appeared in a number of toilet-themed talkies on this website. For several years he’s tested the flushing ability of toilets on display at the International Builders Show including a new version of a 75-year-old model, the Kohler Wellworth.

Critics have raved about Markovich’s performance in the highly-rated Consumer Reports flusher flick, "How We Test Toilets." In it he reveals our tough toilet tests and whether or not dual-flush toilets get the job done. Spoiler alert: Some don’t.

If after watching these short subjects you become a Markovich fan, then don’t miss his best performance to date in the featurette, "Making Great PiƱa Coladas." It made our greatest hits list despite the lack of a toilet.
