Builders' Show: Homes for every stage of your life
Feb 15, 2012 10:01 AM

The various show homes constructed for the Builders' Show are an opportunity to see the latest products, techniques, and design trends in action. One such example, the Builder Concept Home 2012, imagines a neighborhood where baby boomers, Gen Xers and millennials can all live side-by-side, an inventive alternative to a more segregated world of starter homes and retirement communities.

The homes themselves also pick up on the multi-generationalism that's a dominant theme at this year's Builders’ Show. Roughly 30 percent of households now qualify as multi-generational, with aging parents or adult children (aka boomerang kids) moving back in with mom or dad. We took a tour of the homes to see the design elements at work, including the guest suites and granny apartments that could accommodate different generations or else serve as a rental unit. For more information, including floor plans of the homes and information on the builder, architects and interior designer, visit www.builderconcepthome2012.com.
