Fuji recalls women's bicycles for frames that can break

About 10,500 Fuji Saratoga Women's Bicycles are being recalled by its importer, Advanced Sports Inc. of Philadelphia, PA. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the bicycle's frame can break in the center of the downtube during use, causing the rider to lose control and fall.

Bicycle handlebars recalled for breaking hazard

More than 2,000 bicycle handlebars made by Nitto of Japan and imported to North America by various companies are being recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada. The two safety regulatory agencies say the aluminum parts can break during use and may cause riders to lose control of their bikes and fall.

Two Giant bicycle models recalled for front forks that can break

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Giant Bicycle, Inc. are recalling two models of bikes built by the Newbury Park (Calif.) company. Both the 2012 model year of Giant's Defy Advanced and Avail Advanced bicycles have front forks which may crack, posing a fall hazard to riders.

Recall: Schwinn elliptical exercise equipment for fall hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall alert for elliptical exercise equipment made by Nautilus of Vancouver, Wash. Approximately 10,000 Schwinn 460 models have faulty foot plates which can detach and cause the exerciser to fall off the machine.

Columbia Sportswear recalls jacket heater batteries for overheating danger

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall notice for rechargeable batteries sold with certain Columbia Sportswear winter jackets. The batteries, which are used to power the jackets' internal heaters, have a defect which may cause them to overheat and pose a fire hazard.

91,000 Bridgeway bicycles recalled for faulty chains

The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Bridgeway International of Naples, Fla., announced today a recall of 91,000 men's bicycles for chains that break and can cause riders to fall. The company has received 11 reports of faulty bicycle chains, nine of which resulted in rider injuries such as cuts and contusions.

Climbing gear recalled for flaw in stitching

Petzl America Inc., of Clearfield, Utah, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission today announced a recall of the company's Scorpio and Absorbica Shock Absorbing Lanyards. Some of the lanyards, which are used in climbing harnesses, may have a stitching fault that causes the safety devices to fail.
