Just because Black Friday and Cyber Monday have come and
gone doesn’t mean retailers have stopped dealing. In the past two days, I've been peppered with sales alerts from more than 50 merchants
I’ve been tracking since Labor Day. That’s why we keep advising shoppers to
take those urgent ads touting “the biggest savings of the season” with a grain
of salt. If there’s one lesson to be learned in this highly competitive retail
climate, it’s that when one sale ends another’s sure to follow. Here are a few
of the current eye-catchers:
Bloomingdale’s – Through Dec. 6, take 20 percent off any purchase of $250 to $499.99, and 30 percent off purchases of $300 or more. Offer applies to online purchases only.
Dillard’s – Buy a women’s coat on Saturday and receive a 30 percent discount on all cold-weather accessories in the ladies’ department.
Eddie Bauer – Through Sunday, all sweaters are on sale starting at $19.99. (Be warned, our holiday poll revealed sweaters, along with slippers, ties, and socks were among the least-desireable holiday gifts
Caribou Coffee -- Through Sunday, get free shipping on orders over $40 (use promo code “WEEKENDFREE”). See how Caribou fared in Consumer Reports tests.
Neiman Marcus – Through Dec. 9 or until supplies last, take
50 percent off select fine apparel and accessories bought online (enter promo
code “DECNM” at checkout for free shipping).
Sears – On Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon, take 20 percent off all “Dora the Explorer” toys.
Bon-Ton – Through 1 p.m. on Saturday, take an extra 25 percent off regular- and sale-priced apparel and fine jewelry, and 20 percent off most other merchandise with discount code “DECFRFA1246” (online orders). Click here for coupon for in-store savings.
Kmart – The chain is promoting a “Better Than Black Friday” sale on TV’s with savings of as much as 25 percent or so off models (mostly 720p) from brands including Panasonic, Sylvania, Vizio, and Proscan. Horchow – If you act fast (by 6 a.m. Central Time on Saturday) you can secure free shipping (with promo code “SHIP2U”) on any furniture order from the home-furishings e-tailer.
JC Penney – Through Dec. 7, take an extra 20 percent off “almost everything” in the store, Web site, and catalog. Use promo code “20FRIEND” for online orders. Click here for an in-store coupon.

Land’s End – Through Monday, get 25 percent or more off of everything on the Web site.
