Recall: Some Girl Scout cookies are lemons
Feb 24, 2010 4:04 PM
LemonChalet_Cookie One of the bakeries that supplies Girl Scout cookies has recalled Lemon Chalet Cremes because they have an off taste and smell. Little Brownie Bakers says on its Web site that "certain lots of Lemon Chalet Creme cookies contain oils that may be breaking down." They are safe to eat, the baker states, but then who would want to?

The bakery is notifying all the Girl Scout Councils that received the cookies and will provide replacement cookies for councils and consumers. The affected cookie batches have the following lot codes, which can be found on the end of the carton:

7455881, 7455882, 7455883, 7456741, 7456742, 7456743, 7457661, 7457662, 7457663, 7458521,  7458522, 7458523, 7459401, 7459402, 7459403.

Cookie sellers or buyers can call Little Brownie Bakers at (800) 962-1718 or e-mail them for more information. Troop leaders or cookie volunteers should contact their local council for reimbursement and/or exchange.

Little Brownie underscored the fact that "no other Girl Scout cookies are involved" in the recall. That's good news as we await our shipment of Thin Mints.
