The tick-tock on the time change
Mar 13, 2010 10:39 AM
TimeChange It's that time again -- or it will be at 2 a.m. Sunday when the time springs ahead an hour to daylight saving time. So unless  you live in Hawaii or parts of Arizona, set  your clocks ahead an hour before you go to bed tonight. Then leave them that way until November 7 when we can all recoup that lost hour of sleep.

Since you're already adjusting the clocks on your home electronics and appliances, it's also a good time to test and/or change the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.

And when you go back to work on Monday, take extra care. Research has shown that loss of sleep contributes to a small increase in the rate of car accidents in the days following the change to daylight saving time, according to the journal Sleep Medicine.
