The black plastic caps were sold at Outdoor sports stores, including L.L. Bean, and grocery and specialty stores nationwide, and on the Web at www.llbean.com. The caps were sold separately as well as with stainless steel water bottles.
Consumers should stop using the caps immediately and contact Klean Kanteen at (877) 546-9063 to receive a free mailing envelope to return the water bottle spout and to receive a free replacement. For additional information, contact Klean Kanteen toll-free at (877) 546-9063 or online at www.kleankanteen.com/safetynotice. Canadian consumers can see Health Canada’s press release.
My wife and I have three of the recalled water bottles with the klean kanteen top. We got ours from L.L. Bean and received a recall notice from them. I went online for replacements.
I'm unclear if I have the one on the recall list the spout is
polished finish, but the rest is dull?
This recall is being handled abysmally by KleanKanteen. NO notification to me, who purchased direct from the company. Original turnaround time was promised at two weeks; it has been 3.5 and no replacement yet. Calling customer service goes to voice mail that never gets returned; e-mails are ignored, and attempts to use Twitter for communications from the company get no response. Proactive consumer communication was not part of their recall plan. Beware: KleanKanteen is a very small company (less than 40 employees) with little experience with customer service, and it shows. Amazing how KleanKanteen partners and resellers (like LL Bean) were proactive with consumer notification, but KleanKanteen as a direct seller was not.
The new spout makes embarrassing squeaking noises when I use it.
So I bought a whole new water bottle and that does it too!
