About 2,000 Quick Kids junior tennis racquets from Gamma Sports were recalled because high levels of lead in the taped handle.
Specifically, the orange grip tape on the racquet handle contains lead. The 23-inch aluminum racquets were made in China and sold online from December 2010 through March 2011 at the following sites for about $15.
If ingested by young children, lead can cause adverse health effects. There were no incidents or injuries reported in relation to this recall, however.
Owners can contact Gamma Sports for a free replacement grip kit. According to a Consumer Product Safety Commission news release, the company is contacting known purchasers of the recalled tennis racquets.
