More than 205,000 Hyundai SUVs recalled for flawed drivers' air bags
Sep 16, 2011 10:15 AM

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Hyundai Motors has issued a recall for 2007-2008 Hyundai Sante Fe and Veracruz sport utility vehicles for concerns over their drivers' front airbags.

The Hyundai SUVs have a flaw in the safety system's electrical circuit which might prevent the airbag from deploying during a collision, increasing the risk of injuries to the driver. Approximately 205,233 Hyundai Santa Fe and Veracruz vehicles, made from April 2006 to March 2008, may be affected with this airbag defect.

Hyundai is expected to begin this month alerting affected owners to bring in their SUVs to the local dealerships where technicians will replace the airbag electrical assembly for free.

For more information, consumers can call Hyundai's customer connect center (toll-free: 800-633-5151) or visit the NHTSA website: www.SaferCar.gov.
