Recall: Toulouse-LapTrec magnetic sketchpads—pen tip is choking hazard
Nov 2, 2011 3:30 PM

Battat is recalling about 95,000 Toulouse-LapTrec magnetic Sketchpads in the U.S. and 4,300 in Canada, because the tip of the magnetic drawing pen can detach and become a choking hazard to young children, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced today.

Battat has received 19 reports of the magnetic tip separating from the pen, but no injuries have been reported.

The recalled sketchpads were sold for about $16 at Target and Barnes & Noble stores nationwide, as well as various online retailers for a full year starting in March 2010.

The sketchpads have a white plastic writing surface, bordered by either a red or brown plastic frame that has a bag-like backing. The sketchpad has four animals across the top, a rabbit, dog, cat and duck. The multicolored magnetic pen is affixed to the front of the sketchpad. Model number BX1026 (red frame) or BX1027 (brown frame) was printed on a paper wrapper that came with the product at the time of purchase.

Consumers can contact Battat to receive a free replacement, by either calling 866-665-5524, or visiting www.battatco.com.
