The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission has issued a recall for about 25,500 handheld personal massage devices sold by the Fourstar Group of Bedford Heights, Ohio. The bug-shaped massagers have batteries that can leak and pose a burn hazard and possible skin irritation risk to consumers.

The CPSC says the company has received reports of leaking batteries in its Handheld Massage Pets from five BJ's Wholesale Club outlets. But there have been no reported consumer injuries from the handheld massagers, which were sold exclusively by the big box chain from September to December.

The recall involves ladybug- and bee-shaped Massage Pet handheld massagers. Each massagers measure 3-1/2 inches tall and 5 inches wide and were sold with two Kendal brand AA batteries. "Massage Pets" and "Dating code 1210A" are printed on the massager's hangtag along with UPC 0 49696 60453 6 for the ladybug and UPC 0 49696 60454 3 for the bee.

Consumers are advised to stop using these recalled massagers and not to touch the batteries or open the battery compartment. Customers are advised to return the recalled Handheld Massage Pets to the nearest BJ's Wholesale Club warehouse for a full refund.
