Rx Locker locking pill boxes recalled due to lock failure
Mar 7, 2012 3:00 PM

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall notice for locking pill containers sold by Locker Brand Inc. of Henderson, Nev. The Rx Locker
containers can be unlocked and opened by applying pressure on the locked latch, which could lead to unauthorized access to supposedly secured medications.

The CPSC says no injuries or deaths have resulted from the recalled locking pill boxes. However, it warns that consumers should stop using the Locker Brand containers and contact the company to return the Rx Locker for a full refund.

The recall affects Rx Locker containers made of orange plastic with a white top resembling four pill containers and a metal, three-number combination lock on the front. The recalled containers were manufactured between May 2010 to December 2010 and can be identified by the last six numbers in the production batch number, found on the bottom of the container.

Recalled batch numbers end with: 052 010, 062 010, 082 010 and 122 010.

The recalled locking pill boxes were sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, CVS, Walgreens and the Locker Brand website from June 2010 through October 2011 for about $15.

Consumers should immediately stop using this product and contact Locker Brand for a free return mailer. When the product is returned, the company will provide a full refund.

For additional information, consumers can call Locker Brand's toll-free phone (888-491-6617), e-mail the firm at admin@lockerbrand.com, or visit the firm’s website at www.RXLocker.com.
