2002-04 Honda CR-V and 2003 Honda Pilot SUVs recalled due to headlight issues

Honda plans to recall 2002-2004 Honda CR-V and 2003 Honda Pilot SUVs next month. According the company, about 554,000 of the Honda sport-utility vehicles have wiring faults that may fail to to turn on the front low beam headlights.

GM to replace portable 120-volt chargers for Chevy Volt hybrids

General Motors announced yesterday that it is replacing the portable charging devices used to recharge the Chevrolet Volt from any standard 120-volt household electrical outlet. The new charger is said to have a thicker and more durable cable to enhance the charger's durability, said GM.

IIHS: Hybrid cars are safer in collisions—unless you're a pedestrian

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has some mixed safety news for those who choose hybrid cars such as the Honda Civic Hybrid. The chances of being injured in a collision while in a green car are 25 percent lower than in a comparable conventional powered car. The bad news? Hybrid car drivers are 20 percent more likely to be involved in accidents with pedestrians.

Feds probe failure of tire jacks for Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey vans

Federal investigators with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have opened a preliminary investigation into possibly faulty car jacks that came with Ford-made minivans. The agency's Office of Defects Investigation and Ford Motor Co. has received six reports of the mechanical jacks collapsing during use.
